Gérard Le Roux was born on 12th January 1942 in Paris, to a Breton father.

Between the ages of eight fourteen, he was in a musical period, during which he studied the piano and the violin at the conservatoire de musique in Bordeaux. His dream was to become a conductor.

At the age of fourteen he exchanged his conductor's baton for a paintbrush, when he started at the Fine Arts School in Bordeaux, in 1956. His talent was soon confirmed, and painting became the passion of his life, giving rise to a whole series of works, the fruit several years spent int the service of Art.
